Boo Boos Yummy Baked Dog Treat

by Adriana
(Ovett, MS, U.S.)

What you need:
3 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 to 3 cup quaker oats
1/2 to 1 cup hot water
2 to 3 beef bouillon cubes
1 can evaporated milk

What to do:
Dissolve the bouillon cubes in the hot water.
Add the milk and beat well.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour and oatmeal.
Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Press the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake it at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
Turn off the heat and leave the treat in the oven to cool for 20 to 30 minutes.
Once it is cool, cut it into bite size pieces for your dog.
Refrigerate any leftover pieces.

Hello Adriana,

Thank you for taking the time to write out this simple but delicious looking baked dog treat recipe. Although we have not made these treats ourselves, we are guessing that the texture would be like that of a dog biscuit.

We would recommend that instead of regular bouillon cubes, you get the low sodium kind, since most dogs already get more than enough salt in their diet.

We would also like to remind visitors that any dog treat should be given sparingly - either give very tiny pieces, if you are giving your dog a bunch, or no more than two larger pieces a day. You could also feed a little more treat and less dog food, but then you are taking a chance your dog is not going to get all the nutrients he/she needs for the day.

Anyway, thanks again - and you will be entered in the drawing for winning submissions that will be held in early January 2012.

Jo
