Cassie, our dog with a long story.

This is cassie sitting on the couch!

One of my family members decided that she wanted a dog. We went to a shelter and found Cassie, a yellow lab mix. We later found out that she was part German Shepherd. They first named her Cassidy and, when we got her out of the shelter cage, she was scared and wouldn't go back in. After that, our family member took her home. She decided to call her Cassie instead of Cassidy.

The first thing we saw about her was that she would always look out the window. Whenever we came to visit her, she would be right at that window looking for us. A few weeks later, our family member couldn`t handle her and we took her into our house. We had another dog, Eli, and they got along well; all they did was play fight. Cassie would always sit on the arm of the couch and look out the window. She also sat on the couch but we soon stopped it. We gave her a foot rest to sit on so she could look out the window. Soon Eli was looking out the window too! We are now happy with Cassie by our side, protecting us at all times. They both go nuts over the UPS truck going down our road.

We think that she was beaten because when someone in our house picked up a cardboard paper towel roll and was smacking it on her hand, Cassie hung her head low as if to say "Go on, hit me, I am used to it."

Noel, it sounds like Cassie is right where she was meant to be - in a loving home where she has an important job. Thanks very much for sharing and providing us with a photo! Be sure and look for her picture on our home page during May. Jo
