Dog House Wood Working Plan Information

Why use a dog house wood working plan to build a doghouse?

Convenience - saves you the time and trouble of designing one yourself

Materials cut list and best cutting arrangement is provided

Avoid costly design mistakes

Alerts you to important features

Make your own modifications or embellishments without having to start a design from scratch

Should you pay for a set of plans or use free ones?

A FREE plan often but not always:
  • Has some details missing, such as: sizes of parts, how to cut your materials, unclear or incomplete figure drawings, or broad rather than specific instructions
  • Lacks support options such as contacting the designer when you need help
A dog house plan that you PAY for usually:
  • Comes with complete instructions, a materials cut list, illustrations and photos and may provide extras such as DVD videos
  • Incorporates features such as making the dog house easy to clean, and allowing for adequate ventilation and insulation
  • Will advise you on the size dog house you need to order if you are unsure
  • Offers custom designs
One advantage a FREE dog house wood working plan has over a PAID one is that the author is often proud of their design and shows inside and outside details clearly. With a PAID plan, pictures and details are often minimal to prevent copying without payment.

Many PAID dog house plans are emailed to you right away as a pdf file or files. You will need a version of Adobe Reader to be able to look at these and print them if need be. Adobe provides this free and periodically updates to a newer version (8.0 as of January 2008).

You can also opt to have plans snail mailed, and that is often how DVDs are sent.

FREE plans are usually available in their entirety on the web page you are looking at, sometimes with links to other pages with photos and instructions or drawings that are in pdf format.

To make it faster for you to choose between each FREE and PAID dog house wood working plan, we have organized ones we've found through web research into charts. See:
