Dog Treat Gift Basket

Put together a dog treat gift basket for your favorite dog lover!

Most dogs love treats and most dog owners will be delighted with a gift basket full of dog treats. You don't have to wait until the holidays or a birthday but can put one of these together any time.

Of course, you can just fill a basket with ready made treats. Or if you're on a strict budget, you can easily put together your own. (Many thrift stores carry an assortment of baskets for a dollar or less). Then top it off with a special delivery!

Before you begin

• Find out whether the dog has any food allergies
• Think about the treats you will make. See cheap homemade dog treats
• Some ideas are biscuits or cookies; dried meats such as chicken, turkey, or beef jerky; and firm cheese products. These might need to be individually wrapped to stay fresh
• For uniquely shaped biscuits, make your own with a homemade plastic dog cookie cutter
• Figure out approximately what size basket you will need
Shop for a basket (thrift stores usually have several)
• Find a recipe with safe ingredients - see dangerous foods for dogs for items to avoid

• Prepare the treats
• Optional: Decorate the basket.
