Favorite dog toys:
tennisrope

by Olivia
(Sacramento California U.S.)

I tried making this for my dog and he absolutely loved it! Maybe you can try it for your dog!

Directions:
-get a tennis ball and make a small hole in both sides.
-get a thin rope and slide the tennis ball through the rope.
-tie both ends of the rope together.

DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Editor's comment: It sounds like one reason it has become one of the favorite dog toys for Olivia's dog is because you can use the rope to throw the ball a long way and also play tug-of-war with it.

Favorite dog toys:
Fleece pull rope

by Rachael
(Zimiad)

I just cut three strips of fleece and tied a knot on one end and braided it, then tied an ending knot.

My puppy loves this toy more than any of the other toys that I bought him. It's really easy to make and he just loves it.

tea towel tug rope toy for puppy

My husband made my puppy some awesome rope toys out of our old Tea Towels. He took a towel and cut it into three equal parts lengthwise, knotted one end tightly, braided it, and knotted the other end.

Instant dog toy that was super easy and tightly enough braided that it survived the test of our Pittbull X Boxer puppy's teething and saved our baseboards. :D free, durable and fun, what could be better?

Editor's note: It sounds great!! Just remember bits of cloth can be a choking or intestinal hazard so keep close tabs on your puppy when using this toy.

plaited pull rope

plaited pull rope

i was looking in a dog shop to get my little millie (jack russell) a toy and found a rope. it set me back £3 and my dog loved it but then i thought, hey i cud make this!

so i got an old bath sheet and cut it into 6 half inch strips, put them in groups of two and plaited (braided) them all the way.
then i folded the plait in half and undid the bottom ends, leaving 5 inch of plait in the middle for the loop.
next i used the 12 strips, making them into 3 groups of 4 and plaited them all together for 3 inches.
then i divided the strips into 2 groups of 6 again and plaited each group and put a knot at the ends.

millie loves it and wot makes me happy is that it only took me 5 mins to make and never cost me a thing! if you like to add a colour, try using food colouring that will not harm the pets you love xx

homemade dog toy - pull rope

by alexa dean
(oxford, michigan)

first you take 4 big chunks of rope and just tie them on the bottom and on the top. that's it - easy as pie

Editor's note:
We would suggest you braid the 4 pieces together so your dog's head or paws don't get tangled in it. Use about twice the length of rope - it will get shorter from tying the knots and the braiding.
