EASY BANDANA
MATERIALS
Cotton or cotton-like fabric:Width: Circumference of dog's neck + 18 inches (355mm) [Comet's is 21 + 18 = 39 inches] Height: We suggest somewhere between 13 inches (330mm) for a larger dog and 9 inches (230mm) for a smaller dog Thread to blend in with your fabricPencil [Note: We used a black marking pen for demonstration]Straight pinsNeedle or sewing machine
INSTRUCTIONS - MARKING AND CUTTING- With the wrong side of the fabric facing you, mark the center line (fold fabric width in half to make it easy)
- Take the height you decided on and add an inch (25mm) for seams
- Go up the center line and mark the distance just measured
From the marked spot, draw a straight line to one corner - Cut along the line you made to the center
Fold over the triangle you have cut, match the edges, then mark along the other angled edge - Cut it out and unfold so you have a large, shallow triangle with the wrong side facing you
INSTRUCTIONS - PINNING AND SEWING
- Start with the top edges
-
Fold each raw edge over about 1/4 inch (6mm) and then fold it over again another 1/4 inch so no raw edges come unraveled - Try to keep the top point of the triangle in the middle
- Next do the long bottom edge
- For the bottom two corners you may have to cut off excess material before folding and pinning to make good corner points
- Sew together by hand or machine about 1/8 inch (2 to 3mm) from the edges, removing pins as you go
