According to an email received from veterinarian Andrew Jones, Diamond Pet Foods is expanding their recall to "all products made at its Gaston, SC, plant...clearly there is a problem with Salmonella and their food.

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula—dry dog food, 35 lb. bag, with production codes CLF0102B31XCW (best by Jan. 27, 2013), CLF0102B31XCW (best by Jan. 28, 2013) and CLF0102B32XWR (best by Jan. 28, 2013).

• Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula—dry dog food, 6 lb. bag, with production code CLF0102B3XALW (best by Jan. 28, 2013).

The recalled formula was distributed in Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia, although the product may have reached other states. Diamond Pet Foods is working with distributors and retailers who carry the products to remove them from the supply chain.

Consumers who have purchased Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food with these production codes and best-before dates should discard the product and contact their veterinarian with any concerns. Pet owners who are unsure if the product they purchased is included in the recall or who would like replacement product or a refund may contact Diamond Pet Foods at (800) 442-0402 or by visiting..." [the link below]

The link at bottom leads to an inspiring story of a woman who can hardly speak but is still able to contribute to her own business.

If you have a "diffability" as our friend, Viki, calls it, another possibility is starting and operating your own income-producing website as we are doing. You work when you're able out of your home...

No need to know the technical end - Sitesell (or SBI!) gives you all the info and tools - all you need to be able to do is read and write and be motivated to work at it. The Action Guide is a blueprint for your business plan.

I'm a really big fan of SBI! because they have had the same yearly price (USD 300) since I started in January 2006 and they pledge to keep it there. This includes webhosting with NO increase in fees or decrease in service when your website starts to grow (this site receives between 1200 and 1600 new visitors a day, depending on the time of year).

You can get help 24/7 from the SBI! private forum of website owners around the world.

What's more, they keep adding more great tools - the latest being BlockBuilder 2

Mar 9, Service Dogs on Oprah?

Just received the following from Viki Gentilman, who has taught us so much about the service dog end of things:

"Remember the announcement that Gunner, Patriot Service Dogs 1st dog was matched with his life partner, Chet?? The symbolic (for the puppy raiser) turning over the leash (to the new partner) happened on November 10, 2012...and the first "working" day for the two of them was the next day -- Veteran's day -- and that was also the day the newest patch of future service dogs was born. How excited was I (along with those of us that are dog lovers) ??

Now, times that by 100...wow! Can you even imagine that?

It was announced that Chet and Gunner will be on an upcoming Oprah special...we don't know if that will be on ABC Prime Time (my suspicion) or on the OWN (which would be no fun at all for those of us without cable or satelite!) The special will be of 20 working dogs and their partners...and the announcement or hopefully, article, will be on prime time tomorrow...March 9.

For those that don't have a dog it is hard for them to understand our bonds with our partners. So, pass this along to all of your friends!"

Thanks a bunch, Viki!

Once again, a very informative article by Dr. Jones about dental disease prevention. Your dog will be healthier, and you may be able to delay or forego costly dental cleanings or other dental work.

Since dog dental cleanings generally involve anesthesia, you lower the risk of health problems even further if you can avoid having your dog undergo this procedure.
