Make your own doggie poncho

by Taylor
(Canada)

Get a large piece of your favorite design of cloth. Use scissors and cut it in a large diamond. Then cut a hole that will fit your dogs head in it.

Carefully cut a triangular design on the rim of the poncho. Use a material strap and use it to fasten the circle so it's a perfect fit. And that's basically it.

Editor's note: Taylor, thanks for the innovative idea! This could also work if you wanted to make a simple, last-minute dog costume. Since the choice of fabrics is endless, you could get a patterned Christmas-related print, one with ghosts on it for Halloween, a shamrock theme for Halloween, a Valentine's day print. Get fabric in a Hawaiian design and add sunglasses for a casual, beach bum look. Use a shiny black piece of cloth and add a top hat (using our party hat designs) and you've got a magician outfit.

You could also take plain fabric and decorate it in all sorts of ways. Feathers, sequins, cut outs from cereal boxes, candy wrappers, yarns, pom poms, cotton balls etc. can all be glued on.
