Mama Blue, a true Cavalier

Look at that cute face!
We are permanent foster parents to a Blenheim, Mama Blue (Blue for short), about eight years old. Like our other two dogs, she also was a breeder for a puppy mill. Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue was unable to find an adoptive family for her because she has syringomyelia, a neurological disease.
When she first came to us in December 2008, she must have had a litter recently because she took over the toy basket with all the stuffed toys. She cleaned them and pulled them to her belly to nurse. She guarded them from the other two dogs just as she probably did at the mill. After about 2 weeks, she decided they were just toys and started tossing them around and having fun.
She is such a sweet little girl and we have been honored to be her caregivers. She is on medication and doing very well. Runs like the wind and loves to chase the frisbee. She just won't give it back once she gets it!
