Make A Portable Dog Bowl

It's so quick to make a portable dog bowl, and it doesn't have to cost you a dime!

For the Expand-A-Bowl, all you'll need is an empty plastic bag like the kind in the U.S. that holds your groceries.

For the Port-A-Bowl, simply wash out an empty plastic margarine or butter container and add a rubber band of the sort to bunch fresh vegetables together.

EXPAND-A-BOWL

We've used this idea on many a hike with Comet. Talk about packing light!

MATERIALS

  • An empty plastic grocery bag or two with no holes
  • Water or food for your dog
ESTIMATED TIME
  • One minute
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Fold over the top edges of the bag to the outside
  • Use two bags for a sturdier container
  • Pour water or food in the bottom and serve to your dog
  • Watch to make sure a hog dog doesn't swallow bits of bag!
Note: Bags can be reused after drying/shaking out crumbs

PORT-A-BOWL

This type of bowl may only last a few trips but is a good way to make further use out of discarded containers

MATERIALS

  • A suitable size empty and clean margarine or butter container
  • A sturdy rubber band
ESTIMATED TIME
  • Three minutes
INSTRUCTIONS

  • Push one side of the container inward to touch the bottom
  • Push the other side down over the first fold
  • You should now have two pointy ends
  • Push the first point down over the other two folds
  • Then hold and push the remaining point over all the folds
  • Wrap the rubber band over the final fold to secure all the folds
  • To use the bowl, remove the rubber band and open the sides out

Well there you have it - two quick, easy and cheap ways to make your own dog bowls that are portable!
