Casey, the escape artist, and I

by Paula Vito
(Mentor OH)

Casey was given to me about 2 mos after I had a knee replacement. He's a lover, and he was very attentive to me as I proceeded to heal.

My breeder (peek-a-poos) called and said she had one left. That day we welcomed Mac, an apricot very poodle looking, vs Casey with the smashed face.

Anyway I need a bike to give me exercise as well as the dog. Casey is a very skilled escape artist, and I am really afraid my little dog will end up under someone's tires. We are working diligently with him, but he makes terriers seem like cream puffs.

My little girl =)

Pixie sitting on my husband's leg

Hello my name is Misty, and my Yorkiepoo's name is Pixie. I named her with the help of my best friend and because of her size. She is two months old and weighs in at 2.2 lbs. (just got weighed at the vet on Fri.) Her first vet visit she weighed in at 1.8 lbs.

She has little dog syndrome (she is a big dog in a little dog's body) lol. She is very active - loves to run and play. She is such a lover too. Well that is about it. The pic isn't so clear but hope to put a new one up once I get a better one. =)

A lifesaving maneuver

by Stan Ebert - Owned by 4 dogs and 2 cats
(Fresno, California)

Molly will be 1 year old next month. She is a Lhaso and Chihuahua mix. She is the baby of our family. Energy plus, she never runs down. She loves everyone and chews up anything (including over 10 pairs of eyeglasses --- lenses and frames).

One day I was cleaning the floors using an electric steam mop. I had to plug it into the outlet in the hall outside of the room I was cleaning. I suddenly heard a thud and whine. I peeked around the corner and Molly had the cord in her mouth and was stiff as a board.

Yes, she had been electrocuted! After I was able to remove the cord from her mouth (which was no easy task), she fell limp and stopped breathing. Our vet is over 15-20 minutes away and I knew it was too late anyway. My baby was gone forever. As I was holding her limp body, I remembered my CPR training that I had to renew every year for work. I teach Severely Disabled students with seizures and other delicate situations.

The BABY CPR came to mind. I pinched her nose closed and gave a couple quick puffs of air. Then I started the compressions on her chest using just 2-3 fingers. It all came back to me and I continued with the breathing and chest compressions. Finally, after what felt like hours, a few minutes later she was breathing on her own and looking around as if to say, "What just happened?". I guarded her very closely that afternoon and evening (with the help of our extended family).

The next day she was running and playing as if nothing had happened. I do believe in Miracles and this was just the proof I needed to confirm that they do exist. It has been several months since the incident and my baby is still playful and eating my eyeglasses. I'm just grateful that God gave me the knowledge and the wherewithal to remember and utilize it.

Editor's note: Thanks for writing in your story, Stan. Sounds like both your dogs and the people you help through your work are in good hands!

Daisys LOOka LIKE

Well my dog Daisy is almost one year old. She is a white Maltipoo (Maltese-Poodle) - the beauty with the beast. She's super cute until she finds paper -ANYTHING paper will do: toilet paper, cardboard, regular printer paper and then she goes to town...

We get along very well; she only nips sometimes and rarely barks but I love her just the same!

Sami's Birthday Party

by Tabitha
(Helena, Montana)

I'm Tabitha and my dog is a two year old yorkie/poodle named Sami. Her birthday is in a few weeks and i want to do something special for her. So I thought "Why don't I have a party for her in the park? I could invite all my neighbors that have dogs, but i would have to supervise all of them." That was the only problem. So i figured that the kids that come with their dogs need to bring a parent if they're not busy then i won't have to supervise them. Boy was i wrong! After reading EVERYTHING on this website, i learned that i have to supervise all dogs all of the time. I was thinking about Baking a cake for all of the dogs that come. The recipe that i will use is from this website and the snacks are also from this website. So are the toys that i'll make and the collars, and the gifts. . . But I just wanted to say thank you dog lovers around the world for contributing these recipes and toys for other people's use.

patsy the small cute wise chewenie

by ann
(canada)

The first time i saw small chewenies in the news paper i wanted to get one. So I called the number and i asked how much the chewenies were. the woman said $520.00. so i said a little bit over my budget but then i thought to myself, hmmm it will be worth it. i drove to new brunswick and got the dog and will never regret it.

chewenies have so much character and i thought that because she was a wiener dog-chihuahua mix she would be yappy but she's not yappy at all.

i recommend chewenies to anyone with kids or who is all alone in a house. they're the sweetest dog ever.

i love mine and that's my story!

Editor's note: Sep 1, 2010: We just acquired Pebble who is the same mix. Definitely has character and dignity and not a loud or frequent barker like the Dachshund we had growing up.

Her Baby

by Jill
(Ohio, U.S.A)

Lily and her Ratty

Lily and her Ratty

Hi, my name is Jill and my pomchi's (chiwahwah/pomerinian) name is Lily. My puppy Lily is about 9 months old.

She is one of the best dogs i have ever had, and the funniest. She has a little toy that she loves. It's one of those cereal box Disney characters, the Rattatoulli doll. It was meant for my nephews, but she snuck over and took it from them. That's why we call her Klepto! Now that toy is her favorite, it's like her baby. Every time my mom takes it away or decides to wash it, Lily will sit at the washer and cry for about 20 minutes. After that she'll follow my mom around the house till she gets it back. Once she has it back, it's hard to get it away from her. But what i think is really funny is that she has about 50 other toys, and she won't even touch them if she doesn't have her Ratty!
