That's a Pretty Smart Puppy

by CL Hendricks
(TX, USA)

Years ago, a few months after my first dog died (Siberian Huskey/Chow 13yrs), I got a new puppy. I was living in a motor home and this little Alaskan Malamute/Wolf hybrid was a blue-eyed handsome boy.

We were in Indiana in July and it was extremely hot. To protect the puppy, I took to leaving him in the motorhome with the air conditioning running.

At two months, he was already housebroke, but I was used to a 13 year old's bladder, and one day forgot I was dealing with puppy bladder. He'd been in the motorhome for a couple of hours, when I went in to check on him.

That's when I found that he had drunk all the water in his water dish, then scooted it out into the middle of the floor. Then he had evidently stood over it because the water dish was full of urine!

You gotta admit, that was a pretty smart puppy!

A little easter puppy!

by Teresa
(Mars)

Today is the day before easter, and my brother's girlfriend knows someone whose dog had puppies, and they gave us one. She is a mix of lab and chow and more. She is 6 weeks, which I know is bad but I'm guessing the owner is not good with puppies. (They never went to the vet and may have worms). She is adorable! No name yet, but we're working on it. My brother (its his puppy) may name her Snickers because she has the colors to go with it, and since its easter soon I want to name her Bunny. I'll tell more when she's older!

Editor's note: Thanks for sharing, Teresa. Please make sure she gets her ParvoVirus shots. Good luck with your new puppy and do write back!

Buddy

by Rachel
(Mobile)

Well one day my dad was at work. There was a dog that would hang around - nobody owned him so he jumped in my dad's car.

Buddy looks like a nice dog, Rachel.

My little Lilo

by Leah
(Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada)

My dogs name is Lilo Lacey. We chose the name of Lilo because it's just a funny name and Lacey because my mom's dog's name was Lacey and she was put to sleep.

My name is Leah. I love my dog. I feed her every day before I go to school, and I always kiss her exactly 28 times before I go to school and when I go to bed. I kiss her because she is too big and she sheds so she can't sleep upstairs with me. I also kiss her because I had a hamster and it passed away before I went on a trip so I'm worried that something could happen to Lilo.

Lilo is seven years old; I'm 13. Lilo is my world. When she passes away it will be very hard for me. The funniest moment I have had with Lilo was I was taking her on a walk and she fell off a dock into a lake. When she jumped out she had seaweed all over her head. We called her Medusa.

Lilo is also my little brother's baby. His name is Stephen. These are his words about his feelings for her, "She is silly and very energetic."

Lilo is loved, cared for, missed when we are gone, and also she is our team mascot. She is the sixth member in our family!!!!!

A Dog Named Dozer

by Mike
(Jax, FL)

I adopted Dozer about 8 years ago in North Carolina. He's a great all around dog.

Although you can't see it from the photo, he has unique ears. When they stand up, he looks like he had a Great Dane in his background. They're huge ears, black and white, and make him look different from most dogs because they seem too big for his body.

a day at the barn

by shayli
(merrit island, fl)

my dog is a catahoula/lab mix (dad=lab, mom=catahoula).

when we went to the barn, he ran up to one of the horses and tried herding the horse. the horse kicked him in the forehead (just barely hurt him) and then he ran to the closest person. we put him in an empty stall with water until we took him to the vet.

after that when my friend and i were walking, my dog shiloh followed us and crawled under the fence and tried the same thing again. the horse started bucking and kicking at shiloh; he ran around her a lot. my friend and i kept calling him to us, then he ran out to the barn (big trouble) :P

My dog Thunder is pretty.

by Dewayne
(Cambridge City, Indiana, US)

Thunder

Thunder

My dog's name is Thunder. My dog is a Malamute/Husky/wolf. He is 24 1/2 inches tall at the withers and 95 lbs. He is not a shelter dog but was bred for pulling weight to compete and out pull pitbulls and bulldogs. When I got him as a puppy I planned on getting him fixed. For his first three years of life people saw how well behaved he was and asked for puppies.

One day I found an AKC Husky with show blood and bred her with my Thunder. She only produced two puppies but the funny thing is nobody bought either puppy. I gave one away and one still is at home and now he is 2 1/2 years old. Now that I learned a life lesson a hard way my dog is getting fixed. My point! If you have a dog and people want pups from it make sure it is full blooded so that you will be sure you can sell the pups.

In the end I'm still very happy both dogs are my fishing, hiking, jogging, and hunting buddies.
